Finally a 45nm CPU

AMD is
expected to showcase its new 45nm Tigris mobile platform at Computex 2009, and it may also reveal some details on an upcoming quad-core mobile platform.

According to Digitimes, the Tigris platform will feature a dual-core 45nm Caspian CPU, a first for AMD, which has thus far relied on 65nm Athlon CPUs in its Puma platform. Tigris will also feature an RS880M chipset coupled with an SB710 southbridge, and a 55nm or 40nm M9X GPU. This means we can look forward to DX10.1 support, and more importantly, ATI's second gen UVD engine.

AMD could also reveal more info on its 2010 mobile platform, based on a 45nm quad-core CPU, codenamed Champlain. This platform will use an SB8xxM series chipset with DDR3 memory support and USB 3.0.

AMD expects the new Tigris platform will be utilized in 14-inch or larger designs, while Congo and Yukon will be reserved for sub-13-inch products.
