SSD over IDE interface

Super Talent
has announced two new SSD drives in its MasterDrive series, the MasterDrive EX2 and IX2. Both of these will have an IDE interface and rather modest read and write speeds.

According to Super Talent, a big part of embedded and "ruggedized" portable PC market still needs IDE drives and MasterDrive EX2 and IX2 are the right way to go if you need a performance boost on IDE interface.

The MasterDrive EX2 is based on MLC memory and will be available in capacities from 16GB to 128GB. This device will be capable of delivering read and write speeds of up to 80MB/s and 40MB/s. On the other hand, the IX2 comes with SLC flash memory, and has a bit higher write speed of up to 60MB/s while the read speed remains at 80MB/s. The IX2 will be available with capacities from 16GB to 64GB.

Both drives have a MTBF of over 1 million hours while the waranty period is two years for MCL based EX2 and three years for SLC based IX2.
