Scythe is working on a new version of its famous Shuriken CPU cooler which will be a bit bigger than its predecessor. It will have a larger fan, more heatpipes and a height of 58mm which makes it even more perfect for an HTPC case.

Due to its 125 x 135 x 58mm dimensions the new Shuriken should cover most surface on the mini-ITX board. Thanks to its size, it should also cool both the northbridge, motherboard VRM and memory, at least in some cases, depending on the motherboard layout. The new Shuriken has four heatpipes, large heatsink that is cooled by a 120mm slim fan, and weighs in at 405g.

The fan spins from 650 to 1600 rpm, pushing 15.77 to 38.05 CFM of air, and producing 12.92 to 28.89 dBA of noise. As you can see from the pictures below, it works well with Zotac's 9300-ITX mini-ITX motherboard and we are quite sure that it will work well on any other mini-ITX motherboard. It supports Intel's LGA-1366/775 and AMD's AM3/AM2+/AM2/939 sockets.

The new Scythe Big Shuriken looks like an ultimate CPU cooler for an HTPC case and we hope that this one will show up on store shelves pretty soon.
