Fighting Apple

Research in Motion is about to launch a new social network for its BlackBerry App World store. Reports are flooding in of a new site is called MyBlackBerry and it will allow device owners to create a social profile where they can share opinions and recommendations for their favorite applications and accessories.

The big idea is that users will also be able to share tips and tricks for using their devices, cease my fluttering heart. We are expecting the launch of the site sometime today but all RIM is saying is that it is working on one. However it indicates that while RIM is still beating Apple in the business arena, it has a long way to go before it understands social notworking.

For example one of the functions is that it will allow people to network with the same machine as them. Quiet how this is a basis for the selection of friendship, no one has said. The only brand we know in which this is the case is Apple fan boys and that is because no one normal can talk to them without wanting to beat them up.

It looks like RIM is struggling to get attention for its App World store which only has about 2,000 applications. True they are applications that you might use, unlike the Apple store, but it is numbers that count in this game.
