Ahead of schedule, thanks to 360 crowd

Thanks to the strong sales of Battlefield 1943 on the Xbox 360, the community unlockable Coral Sea map was made available to players late this afternoon when Xbox 360 gamers achieved 43 million kills for the title that was just released last week.

This means that it took Xbox 360 gamers only five incredible days to achieve 43 million kills, where PlayStation 3 owners have only been able to achieve a little over 22 million kills. Of course, PlayStation 3 owners who purchased the game are going to point out that it was released one day later for the PS3 console; but even still, PS3 players are not going to add 21 million more to their body count with an extra day.

While DICE and Electronic Arts have not released exact sales figures, sources suggest that Battlefield 1943 on the Xbox 360 is outselling the PlayStation 3 version by as much as 2 to 1. The sales of the title have exceeded expectations, which will most certainly lead to additional content for the game according to our sources. While no official announcement has been made, we hear whispers that DICE is already considering the development of a map pack for the title, which most likely will add three additional maps to the game.
