Confusing messages from the US
US republicans
have been call for the government to launch an immediate cyber attack on the
servers of North Korea. (Both of them? sub.ed.)
The call by Peter Hoekstra who is the lead Republican
on the House Intelligence Committee, said the US should conduct a “show of
force or strength” against North Korea for a supposed role in a round of
attacks that hit numerous government and commercial websites this
week.
Hoekstra, speaking on the conservative America’s Morning News radio
show, produced by the Washington Times newspaper, said that “some of
the best people in America” had been investigating the attacks and
concluded that most likely “all the fingers” point to North Korea as
the culprit.
It is a pity that Hoekstra did not follow the case a little more
closely. The “best people in Amerca” soon tracked the hacks to a server
in Britain. Fortunately no one responded to this bit of information and
launch a cyber attack on Blighty and bring to an end the cosy relationship
and NATO all in one fell swoop.
After getting on the blower to the UK ISP
which ran the server, the “best people in the US” found that in actual
control server was sitting in Florida, in Land of the Free. If the US
government does listen to Hoekstra's call and does launch cyber attacks
against the nation which launched them, things are looking bad for Florida,
if such a thing were possible. (Al Gore probably wouldn't mind. sub.ed.)
