Dell is toning down its sales pitch for Microsoft's Vista operating system and warning businesses of the migration challenges that lie ahead for them, according to ZDNet.

The move is rare because the hardware vendor is warning business about the fact they will have to buy extra hardware, something that Dell usually likes its customers to do.

In the past, Microsoft had suggested that a 1GB was fine for Vista, but Dell's European client services business manager, Niall Fitzgerald said that 2GB and larger was needed.

He said that a  2GB image for each user would have a big impact on any hardware rollout. He said that Dell was "stepping back" from telling people they must upgrade.
