Yesterday, Microsoft’s Windows Communications Manager
Brandon LeBlanc wrote a blog entry that put emphasis on Windows 7 release dates
and availability options for partners and OEMs, business customers, IT
professionals, developers, and basically anyone else who has interest or
affiliations with the new operating system.
One of the particular aspects of availability that he
pointed out was the confirmation of a Windows 7 “Family Pack.” For the past few
months, there have been rumors and speculation for something like this, which
has been encouraged by developers and beta testers as a means to upgrade
multiple PCs at a discounted rate.
The Family Pack will allow an upgrade installation of the
highly functional Windows 7 Home Premium on up to three PCs for a single price
of $149.99. Take note of the word “upgrade,” meaning that the systems will have
had to be equipped with at least XP Home or Vista Home Premium in order to
qualify. The guys over at FadFusion have already listed the pack on their site
for $138.99
for those interested early.
All in all, the Windows 7 Family Pack saves users around $210
worth of additional costs in buying three separate Home Premium Upgrade DVDs.
