Acer eMachines EZ1601 all-in-one available in Europe
Hot looks, cool price
A few weeks back, Acer subsidiary eMachines announced a stylish Atom-based all-in-one. We didn't write about it. Well, actually, we sort of missed it, but now it's shipping in Europe, and it looks like a pretty good deal.
The 18.5-inch EZ1601 looks pretty good, a bit more serious than most Atom all-in-ones, and this fact could draw in a few business users, too. Under the bonnet, it's your usual diet of Atom N270/945, with 1GB of memory, 160GB of storage and a DVD drive. Nothing special then, but the price is quite good.
At €390, it's the cheapest Atom all-in-one on the market, and the price is going down even further, as it becomes widely available. The MSRP is €399/$399, but quite a few retailers usually offer better prices. Most similar PCs sell for more than €430, and some cost up to €500.
In spite of the relatively low price, we still feel all-in-ones are overpriced. For €400 you can easily get a low-end 15-inch or 17-inch notebook, with a proper CPU, more memory and storage.
