Will feature new Director of Rumor Confirmation

As crazy as this might sound, it seems that Sony will be creating a new position as part of its new advertising strategy for the PlayStation 3 slim. Our sources tell us that the company will introduce the “Director of Rumor Confirmation” as part of its ad strategy for the PS3 slim.

No, this is not a new slapstick version of an old Marx Brothers film. According to what our sources tell us, Kevin Butler will be Sony’s first official Director of Rumor Confirmation, and will star in the ads that are expected to hit the airwaves within the week. The ads will feature Butler confirming what Fudzilla has been telling you all along, which is that Sony has launched the new PS3 slim as they are dropping the price for this unit to $299.

As for Fudzilla, we applaud the move by Sony to finally create a position within their company that we have long wished for. Once we figure out how we can reach out directly to Butler, we will be able to officially end each Sony story we write with an actual confirmation from Sony that the rumor is false (until the company uses Butler to announce that the rumor is, in fact, confirmed). We believe that while it will prove a bit confusing at first to know which rumors are confirmed or denied, in the long term this will become a new industry trend that other companies will be chomping at the bit to emulate.

Of course, by now you have figured out that we are having a little tongue and cheek fun here at Sony’s expense; but we have to take out hats off to Sony for being a good sport, despite all of their complaints about the information leaks recently. We do predict that the ads starring Butler as the Director of Rumor Confirmation will be very popular. Can someone just send us his cell phone number to save us some time?
