Does Slim mean slower?

Some think that is the case with the new PS3

There was a lot of buzz over the weekend about the possibility of the new PlayStation 3 Slim actually being a bit slower than the previous generations of the PlayStation 3. While we have read a lot of evidence on both sides of the issue and watched a lot of comparison videos, it is still hard to say if this is actually the case.

It seems that some believe that the Slim might use either a chip that is clocked a tad slower than the original PS3, or it could be that the 120GB hard drive that is used in the PS3 Slim is just little bit slower.

According to some testing claims that were said to have been made with identical hard drives, from what we can tell it does seem that the PS3 Slim looks like it could be a bit slower, but the comparisons do seem a bit relative, as there are no hard benchmarking numbers attached to the claims. Another theory is that it could be that the PS3 Slim’s hardware needs a bit more optimization and that could be leading to the perception that the unit is a bit slower.
