Paid accounts are the way forward
Social notworking site Twitter has rejected plans to put
advertisements on the popular microblogging site this year.
Co-founder Biz Stone has finally responded to a call from
analysts for the site to start start making a bob or two. He said that Twitter was "pretty good right
now" with regards to funding, stressed the company's immediate focus was on
building out features ranging from an improved search functions to
paid-for commercial accounts.
The outfit is valued at a billion dollars but has yet to
make much cash. He said that he was not thinking of advertising yet, but
will start offering some premium features for commercial account
users.
Those features could include "light analytics"
tools that allow commercial users to gather data on their followers.
