At least Best Buy’s CEO thinks so

Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn is sounding a bit more upbeat and optimistic about the holiday season with current comments that he made. At a recent media conference in New York Dunn was quoted as saying “consumers are back out spending again” and, of course, this is good news.

The news that Best Buy seems to have a more positive outlook for the holiday season will likely lead to additional inventory orders for computers, electronics, and software prior to the end of the year. While others in the industry are being cautious, the fact that Best Buy is publicly suggesting that they are more optimistic for potential sales this holiday season is good news for the American economy in general.

Several of the industry sources we spoke with say that they are still being conservative about inventory levels and spending, but that they do believe that things could be trending in the upward direction for the holiday season. While none of our industry sources would suggest that holiday sales would equal banner sales, they admit that things might not be as bleak this holiday season as they appeared to be as recently as a month ago.
