FTC moving towards a formal complaint


Just months
after the European Commission slapped it with a record €1.06 billion fine, Intel is finding itself in hot water on the other side of the Atlantic.

According to Reuters, the majority of FTC commissioners are supporting efforts to file a formal complaint against the chipmaker. FCC launched an inquiry in June 2008, but the specifics of the antitrust inquiry or possible charges are still unknown.

Intel is confident that it's in the clear. “Our business practices are lawful and … (work) to the benefit of consumers. We certainly have been working closely with the FTC as they conduct their investigation. We would hope that the speculation is incorrect ,” said Intel spokesman Chuck Mulloy.
