Rumor mill working overtime

Starting this weekend we began hearing some cryptic suggestions that Apple will officially announce at their upcoming press event to launch the iTablet that AT&T will no longer be the exclusive provider of the iPhone in the U.S.

We have been spending a lot of time trying to pin down exactly what the deal is, but it just seems that there are many guesses on what the exact nature of the deal is between Apple and AT&T. As we have told you previously, we know that Apple appears to have a deal with Verizon to offer the iTablet, and it seems that our sources are in agreement that AT&T will be offering it, as well, despite suggestions that Verizon will have it as an exclusive.

Now it would seem that apparently Verizon, according to our sources, will get the iPhone, as well, but it is likely that it will be tied to the iPhone 4.0. The iPhone has been very good for AT&T in the fact that it has attracted a lot of customers to the carrier, but the downside of that has been the incredible amount of bandwidth that iPhone users are apparently using on the AT&T network.

While our sources seem to think that Verizon will be a big player in Apple’s plans going forward, it is really hard to know exactly what kind of deal the company has with the carrier going forward. From all of the whispers we hear, we bet that Verizon will get the iPhone, but not until the next version of the iPhone comes out; and both Verizon and AT&T are going to get the iTablet. We will have to wait till the 27th to see what happens, but at least for the carrier situation in the U.S., it could be a big change going forward.
