Follow your nose
Boffins have come up with a bizarre way of proving your
identity.
Eye scans are apparently not enough, when it comes to
verifying an individual's identity and the boffins at the University of Bath
want to analysis the shape of your nose.
The team have been working on an experimental system that
could help people prove they are who they say they are thanks to the distinct
make up of their nose. Using a photographic system called PhotoFace, developed
by researchers at the University of the West of England Bristol and Imperial
College London, the boffins scanned the shape of volunteers' noses, and
developed computer software to analyse the results.
The only danger is that if you walk into a wall or have
that long needed nose job, or happen to be a boxer, you could find yourself
shut out of your computer, car, or denied entry to a third world country
controlled by backward, paranoid border guard, such as the one who works at Los
Angeles Airport.
