We often do Apple's work for it

The Untouchables
have swept into action to look at a data breach that exposed the email addresses of more than 114,000 owners of the Apple iPad.

AP is reporting that the breach occurred on the US carrier AT&T's network and the FBI said it was worried that the intrusions could lead to a cyber threat. AT&T acknowledged Wednesday that it had exposed the e-mail addresses through a website, and had closed the breach.

The vulnerability only affected iPad users who paid money for the outfits 3G wireless internet service. A hacker group that calls itself Goatse Security said it got the site to cough up more than 114,000 email addresses by guessing which codes would be valid.

Of course the police are always keen to investigate something that is connected to Apple. When Steve Job's engineer left an 4g iPhone prototype in a pub, the coppers were only too keen to break into the house of a local journalist at his request. The fact that Steve had the phone returned by the journalist in question long before the police raid had nothing to do with it.
