Computex 08: 1,725 exhibitors

Today was the day before the day for Computex and although we've already covered Nvidia's press event that kicked off a day early, here's a brief summary of Taitra's press conference held earlier in the day.

Taitra, who organizes Computex, announced that there will be no less than 1,725 exhibitors this year, split between the two locations in Nangang and the Xinyi district of Taipei, near the Taipei 101 building.

This was the first Computex to feature a design and innovations award, hosted by iF, although we have to say that this seemed more like a slap on the back from the industry to the industry. Nonetheless, some interesting products were on display, and we will have more detailed reports about them later on.

Thanks to the new Nangang TWTC Hall, the show is 53 percent bigger than last year, although it's not without controversy, as this new hall is about 8.5km from the Xinyi district, which has been home for Computex in the past 27 years the show has been running. We've yet to see the full impact of what will happen in terms of transportation between the two locations, as the show won't kick off in full scale until tomorrow morning local time.

For now, we'll leave you with a couple of shots from the press conference and make sure you check back with us every day during this week, as we'll have loads of new exciting stories for you all week from the show.
