Cebit 2010: And LG too

At Cebit 3D technology is currently a rather hot topic for discussion. We saw some 3D cameras for live streaming, 3D games, 3D graphics and so on, but users need some kind of 3D monitor to watch 3D content. This technology can improve gaming experience, too. Before you can think about 3D gaming you need one 3D capable monitor and that is one that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. Currently they are rare and expensive, but some new names are entering the fray and that will change pricing.

Asus is showcasing one 23-inch and one 27-inch LCD 3D monitor and both will be available in Q2. The first one is designated PH276H and it has native resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, 2ms response time, two dual-link DVI and one HDMI input with full HD 1080 support. The price is not clear at the moment, but it should be $200-$300 more expensive than comparable 27-inch non-3D monitor.

The smaller one is called VG236H, but has the same 1920x1080 optimal resolution, 2ms response time and same inputs as its big brother. Because those two are using the same technology, the price should be similar.

LG is also in the game with 23” LCD display W2363D that should be available in May for under €400.

The prices might seem a bit high compared to plain panels, but it is only a matter of time before they drop and 120Hz panels become available to average consumers who don't want to spend big money on gaming.
