Within hours of the release of the Apple TV, hackers have already opened the case and revealed what many suspected – an Intel chip and an Nvidia graphics card.
Apple has kept this bit of information under wraps. Particularly when the technology magazine AppleInsider revealed that delays to the television's release were caused by problems in finding drivers for the Nvidia card.
TechRestore have published pictures of both the 1.0GHz Intel Pentium M-based "Crofton" central processing unit and NVIDIA G72M graphics chip.
Other bits of hardware which is interesting is the Silicon Image IC and Broadcom chip affixed to Apple TV's 802.11n-enabled wireless card.
