With dual fan cooling

Our colleagues from Expreview.com have managed to get their hands on the new non-reference Gainward HD 4870 card. The card is cooled by a rather large cooler which features two fans.

According to the info over at Expreview.com, this card will share the design with Palit’s Radeon HD 4870 Sonic card and it will also feature the dual-BIOS design. This means that the card will work at either 750MHz for the core and 950MHz for memory when the first BIOS is used or at 775MHz for the core and 1,000MHz for memory when the second BIOS kicks in.

Due to the dual slot design, Gainward has decided to place a DisplayPort apart from default two DVI connectors. The dual fan design comes with two fans of different size, the 80mm which cools the GPU and memory, and the 70mm which blows directly over the VRM area.

Gainward has decided to tweak the card further as they included 4-phase GPU and 2-phase memory VRM design. The card looks good and this yet another proof that Gainward isn’t joking when it comes to ATI based graphics cards.
