Updated: For budget-minded consumers

Zotac has announced its newest series of graphics cards called Synergy, which targets budget-minded consumers. The new Synergy series will kick off with two new Geforce 9 series cards, the 9600GT and the 9800GT, both packed with 512MB of GDDR3 memory.

The new 9800GT Synergy works at 600MHz, comes with 512MB of GDDR3 memory clocked at 1,800MHz and paired up with a 256-bit memory interface. It also packs 112 Stream processors with a Shader clock set at 1,500MHz. The other one, 9600GT based, works at 650MHz for the core, also comes with 512MB of GDDR3 memory clocked at 1,800MHz with a 256-bit memory interface. This one features 64 Stream processors with a Shader clock set at 1,625MHz.

Both cards are cooled by a non-reference dual-slot cooler with an orange fan. As a budget series, price-wise these cards are positioned between the reference and the factory overclocked AMP! series.

The Zotac 9800GT Synergy is currently listed at Geizhals.at and the lowest price stands at €113.75. Just for comparison the regular version is listed at €111.98, while the AMP! version sells for €117.98. The same story goes for the Zotac 9600GT Synergy, which is listed at €88.97, while the regular version sells for €84.05 and the AMP! can be found for €99.17.

You can find them listed here, and you can find them pictured below.

Update: Zotac was fast enough to let us know that the Synergy series will be positioned below the Standard, or how we like to call it, the reference series. Once again retailers/e-tailers are playing a key role here as the Synergy edition cards are still positioned between the reference and the overclocked AMP! series, at least when you take a look at the prices. These prices will eventually drop as Zotac wants these cards to be cheap.
