Low-profile card with HDMI

Although there has been a fair bit of leaked information about the upcoming Radeon HD 4550 from AMD, we've so far not seen any cards from AMD's board partners, that is until now. Asus seems to be ready to release its EAH4550/DI/512MD3 and we've managed to score a picture of the card.

In contrast to the full-size card with passive cooling we've seen on the slides from AMD, Asus has gone for a low-profile card with active cooling. We're not sure if this is a good move or not on Asus side, as we're not keen on small fans on graphics cards.

Connectivity-wise, Asus has implemented a DVI, HDMI and D-sub connector, again unlike the reference card which shuns the old D-sub connector in favour for DisplayPort. In saying that, we're still waiting for the DisplayPort interface to become widely available on displays and we have a feeling that the graphics card manufacturers are unwilling to spend the extra money until they have a market to sell cards into.

The card uses DDR3 memory as per AMD's specification, although we don't know the clock speeds of this card, but it shouldn't be too long until this card becomes available and all will be revealed.
