Back to the sandwich design

The picture of what appears to be the dual GT200 card has showed its face on the net. Guys from VR-Zone managed to get their hands on what appears to be a sandwich design card that should feature two 55nm GT200 GPUs.

The picture doesn't show a lot, as you can only see two PCBs and dual-DVI and DisplayPort outs, but this is a first picture of the rumored GTX 295 card. Other rumors on the net state that this card will have 1792MB of GDDR3 memory (896MB x2), 480 stream processors (240 x2) and a 896-bit memory interface (448-bit x2). Previous reports stated that this card will have 216x2 stream processors due to the fact that we are talking about two GTX 260 GPUs, but you must bear in mind that these specs are still not confirmed.

If these rumors are true, it looks like Nvidia will keep its card away from GDDR5 memory. The power consumption of this sandwich card is rumored to be 289W and it has 8+6 power connectors. It should show its face on January 8th, in time for CES2009.
