Nvidia's
last sovereign cash cow, the workstation market, will start to lose some market share in Q1 2009. Up to now, Nvidia had almost 90 percent of this market and it was dominant despite the fact that ATI's FireGL was actually quite competitive.

ATI had some drive issues a few years ago and this really burned workstation guys a lot, and they've been really cautious about ATI FireGL ever since.

AMD's graphics part that we still like to call ATI finally convinced biggest OEM players in the workstation business including HP, Dell and Lenovo to release some systems based on FireGL cards. The systems should be available through Q1 2009 and this will definitely help ATI gain some market share in this very profitable market.

The red team is really putting a lot of pressure on Nvidia, and you can see the results by Nvidia revenue warnings where they expect 40 to 50 percent drop in Q4 2008.

We just hope that Nvidia will wake up and get its act together.
