BFG goes for passive cooling

One of our readers have sent us an interesting listing of BFG 9800 GT card. It would be quite normal if the card isn't passively cooled. As far as we know, this is the only card from BFG that has a passive heatsink, at least in last few graphics card generations.

The new card is simply dubbed BFG Geforce 9800GT 512MB GDDR3 and it works at reference 600MHz for the core, has 112 stream processors with a shader clock set at 1,500MHz. As you could tell from the name of this card, it has 512MB of GDDR3 memory which is clocked at 1,800MHz.

While the memory isn't cooled, the GPU has a small block that is connected to a large heatsink located on the back of the card via four heatpipes. The rest of the card is pretty much plain as it uses green PCB based on Nvidia's reference design. The card isn't listed at BFG's site, but we guess it would be launched soon.

So if you are shopping for a passive cooled 9800 GT card, you can find BFG's 9800 GT listed at Newegg for US $159.99. or here for US $158.98.
