On its new HD 4850 and HD 4870's

Sapphire has officially announced its Vapor-X cards which was on display at CeBIT and which we've already shown you pictures of. The Vapor-X series consists of two HD 4870 models and one HD 4850 card. The new line-up is all about the new Vapor-X cooler that takes up two slots and uses a Vapor Chamber based cooler which should vastly improve the cooling performance.

The Radeon HD 4850 has 512MB of memory and the Radeon HD 4870 will come with either 1GB or 2GB of memory. Both of the HD 4870 Vapor-X models work at 750MHz for the core with the GDDR5 memory at 900MHz. The HD 4850 Vapor-X Edition on the other hand has GDDR3 memory which is clocked at 993MHz while the core ends up at 625MHz. As you might have noticed, these are AMD's reference clocks, but we are sure that the cards have hefty overclocking potential thanks to the Vapor Chamber cooling.

All three cards have a 256-bit memory interface, 800 stream processors, D-Sub, DVI and HDMI outputs. Sapphire has also fitted them with high-polymer aluminium capacitors and "Diamond Black" heatsink chokes which should run 10 percent cooler and with 25 percent better power efficiency than normal chokes.

All of the Vapor-X Edition cards are currently listed and you can find them here
