Cheap OEM half size DX 10.1

Nvidia's second desktop DirectX 10.1 card, officially branded as Geforce G210, has also been silently launched and it targets the OEM market. This is another 40nm chip, implying that Nvidia is not in that bad shape with 40nm as many have believed.

G210 is part of the new branding where G stands for entry level, GT stands for mainstream while GTS and GTX are reserved for the top performing enthusiast cards.

Geforce G210 is anything but exciting, as this cheap, half-PCB card has VGA, HDMI and DVI 589MHz core clock, shaders at 1402MHz and 512MB DDR2 memory locked with an ultra slow 64-bit interface. The card has only 8GB/s bandwidth but it should be enough to play Bluray at 1080p, Vista Aero including Windows 7. At least this is what Nvidia claims on its product page.

Let's not forget that the card has 16 shaders and maximum power consumption of 30.5W. It comes with a small, black fan and if you want Audio over HDMI you have to connect it to your audio card or motherboard.

The basic gaming includes World of Warcraft, Spore or Sims 3 and this should work fine. We are not sure if this card is faster than Geforce 9500GT, but it should be faster than Geforce 9400.
