After silently introducing first desktop OEM 40nm cards including GT220 and G210, Nvidia plans to release quite a few DirectX 10.1 compatible retail cards.

We heard that they should be launching in September time, and by this time, we expect that ATI might even have its DirectX 11 cards ready.

With Nvidia, things are quite clear. The first DirectX 11 chip is in super high end, something that we all call GT300, even that might not be the real code name. Nvidia's desktop 40nm refresh is a minor facelift of existing chips, all done in 40nm and don’t expect any miracles.

They should be marginally better than the current 55nm generation and that’s it. We wonder if Nvidia will force the guys behind Assassin’s Creed to enable DirectX 10.1 again, as its been disabled for a while, at least we believe so.
