Meet the GTX 480M

Following the Eurocom's leak earlier this month, Nvidia has now officially announced its first DirectX 11 mobile GPU, the GTX 480M.

Although some details were already out thanks to Eurocom, we now have the full specs on this MXM 3.0b GPU. It packs 352 CUDA Cores and works at 425MHz for the GPU, 850MHz for those Cuda cores or simply shaders, and 1,200MHz for the memory which is paired up with a 256-bit memory interface. More conveniently Nvidia hasn't listed the TDP of new mobile GPU but had been keen on saying that it is 2-way SLI ready, 3D Vision ready and features CUDA, PhysX and DirectX 11 support.

If these clock numbers seem to you a bit familiar than you are on the right track, as this looks like nothing more than the underclocked GTX 465, although underclocked is pretty much an understatement as we are better of saying that this looks like a GTX 465 on life support.

Back when Eurocom leaked first info there was talk of a 100W TDP, and by the looks of it, these unimpressive clocks can certainly fit into that margin considering how power-hungry Fermi actually is.

According to Nvidia, its Geforce GTX 480M mobile GPU will show up in a Clevo notebook soon, while Eurocom's should show up sometime next month.
