The GTX 570 on a budget

Yesterday, Nvidia officially launched its latest graphics card, the limited editionGTX 560 Ti 448. Although the card looks pretty good on both paper and reviews, it might be somewhat crippled by the fact that this is a limited edition product and will only launch in select markets in North America and Europe.

Although it is named as the GTX 560 Ti 448 this card is based on the GF110 GPU, the same chip that is behind the cooler of the GTX 570. It packs 448 shaders, or as Nvidia calls them, CUDA cores and works at 732MHz for the GPU, 1464 for shaders and 950MHz for (3.8GHz effective) for 1280MB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 320-bit memory interface. As you can see, the specs are pretty much what you would get from a GTX 570, except of course, the lower number of CUDA cores, 480 vs 448. The card needs two 6-pin PCI-E power connectors and features two DVI and mini-HDMI outputs.

The limited edition launch is also a reason behind the GTX 560 Ti 448 name and it should be available in the US of A, Canada and the UK, France, Germany, Russia and Scandinavia. The reviews show that the card is pretty much close to the performance of the GTX 570 and it definitely fills the gap between the standard GTX 560 Ti and the GTX 570.

The price should start at US $289 but considering that most partners decided to launch a factory-overclocked non-reference cards, don't be surprised if you see prices similar to those of the reference GTX 570, as after all, the GTX 570 can be found for as low as US $329.99.
