AMD doesn't like 1GB Radeon HD 2900 XT
In retail that is
According to a source at one of the AMD graphics partners, we've been told that AMD isn't happy about retail version of the Radeon HD 2900 XT with 1GB of memory.
These cards were meant to be reserved for system integrators and were never intended for the retail market.
However, AMD's board partners decided to sell the cards in retail anyhow, as it was a way for them to sell more cards and make some more money.
We can't really blame them and we're sure there are people out there buying these cards just so they can brag about having a 1GB graphics card.
