Show off product

ATI has already announced a FireGL product with 2GB memory and the same design kit can be use to make a Radeon 2900XT card with 2GB of memory.

While this would clearly be a show-off product the company can do it and it would not be much more expensive than the 1GB card. The final decision has not been made, but it can be done.

Nvidia is still at 768 MB with its 8800 GTX and Ultra cards and holds the performance crown and ATI shipps Radeon 2900XT with 1 GB of memory, but it still loses in the performance tests.

The memory is not the decisive thing in a graphic card, it is more about the clock of the chip, ROPs and Shader countunt.
