In U.S. and most of Europe

Not even 24 hours have passed from the miraculous launch of the 8800GT, and we have learned that most of these cards are already out of stock.

At two top U.S. retailers, Newegg and ZipZoomfly, all 8800GT are out of stock. Both of these retailers have listed Asus or MSI, while the usual suspects such as EVGA, BFG and some others are not on the list.

Zipzoomfly has the better price. but again it is some $30 higher than the suggested retail price, as it is listed for US$280 each; however, free shipping is included. Newegg sells ASUS EN8800GT/G/HTDP/512M GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail reference card for US$290 plus $6.33 for 3-day shipping; while Shader OC 1650MHz MSI NX8800GT-T2D512E-OC GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail overclocked to 660MHz sells for US$299.99 plus $6.33 for shipping.

Both cards are out of stock at press time, just hours after the launch. The only place we found 8800GT in Europe was Alternate, who had Sparkle and Leadtek; but we will follow up on this.

You can pre-order cards here at Newegg and here and here at Zipzoomfly. Paper launch, anyone?
