One with X-Turbo Dual cooling

The HD 3870 X2 launch day is finally here and various partners have announced their versions, mostly based on the reference design and reference clocks. Gecube is one of the partners that, aside from the reference version, always likes to announce factory overclocked cards. The GC-XHD3870X2-F5, branded Radeon HD 3870 X2, from Gecube comes with Quad DVI, X-Turbo Dual cooling and higher 850/960MHz clocks.

The first one, branded GC-XHD3870X2-F3, is based on the reference design and reference clocks and this card will work at 825MHz for the core and 900MHz (1800MHz effective) for 1GB of GDDR3 memory. Just like the overclocked card, the reference one also supports PCI Express 2.0 interface, DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1, CrossFireX and HDMI over DVI-HDMI adapter. If you decided to go for the reference designed HD 3870 X2, you will be watched by Ruby, since this card features the sticker of "Ruby's eyes" placed over the reference cooler.

The second one is a bit more interesting, since it features a slight bump from 825MHz to 850MHz for the core and from 900MHz to 960MHz (1920MHz effective) for the memory. As the reference one, this one also sports 256-bit memory interface for each core. Unlike the "Ruby's eyes" reference cooler, the overclocked GC-XHD3870X2-F5 will feature Gecube's X-Turbo Dual fan solution with quad heatpipes and dual 7.5-cm fans. Since it doesn't use the reference cooler that pushes the hot air out of the case it made common sense to place two additional DVI connectors on it.
