Stripped and detailed

Some pictures of Gainward's 9800GTX card which will launch later today have already made it online and the card has been photographed in all its nude glory. It's very much a reference design card with a black/brown PCB.

There isn't really much here that we haven't seen before; the card still has a pair of 6-pin PCIe connectors and two sets of SLI headers for 3-Way SLI. If you've wondered what that little thing at the front of the PCB is, the thick tube that goes to the I/O shield, then we can let you know that it's an LED.

The LED is a warning light in case you haven't attached both of the PCIe power connectors to the card, as it will light up to inform you that the graphics card won't power on due to lack of power. We're not sure why Nvidia didn't add a speaker like ATI, as it's not easy to see an LED at the back of your PC.
