Passive is the way to go

Asus has announced a new addition to its passive graphics card lineup, the HD 3650 with 1GB of memory, branded EAH3650 SILENT/HTDI/1G. The card uses a large passive heatsink and comes with 1GB of DDR2 memory.

The new HD 3650 from Asus works at 725MHz for the core and comes with 1GB of DDR2 memory clocked at 400MHz (800MHz effective). This card could be a perfect candidate for HTPC systems, although we would go for the 512MB GDDR3 version. As every other HD 3650 on the market, this card also supports DirectX 10.1, Shader Model 4.1 and HDMI over DVI to HDMI adapter.

Asus actually has a 512MB GDDR3 passive version listed, and the lowest price is €72.17. The 1GB DDR2 version is still not listed, at least not in E.U. The HD 3650 with 512MB of DDR2 memory, branded ASUS EAH3650 SILENT MAGIC/HTDI, which has the same heatsink that can be found on its newly announced 1GB version is also listed and the lowest price is €48.90.
