Some partners will do it

Just as Nvidia let its partners overclock their cards, ATI will do the same with its cards. ATI did let its partners do it in the past, and most of them were quite modest about it, but this time around they might be a bit more aggressive.

The tricky part is that they need to fight Nvidia’s default clocked cards and even more importantly, they have to fare well against Nvidia's overclocked cards.

Nvidia’s G92 will be the target for both RV770XT, allegedly branded as Radeon HD 4870, and RV770PRO, allegedly branded as Radeon HD 4850.

Some of the cards will get an overclock and that is what matters to many people.
