No-sticker design

HIS has officially launched its HD 4800 series. Nothing new here, as both launched cards are using DAAMIT's reference design, and HIS decided to go for the no-sticker design. The series is based on the 55nm RV770 core with 800 stream processors and a 256-bit memory interface.

The HIS HD 4850 works at 625MHz for the RV770Pro core and comes with 512MB of GDDR3 memory clocked at 1,986MHz. The second card, known simply as the HIS HD 4870, is based on the RV770XT core that works at 750MHz and this card comes with 512MB of GDDR5 memory working at 900MHz (3,600MHz effective).

The lack of sticker design might lower the price of HIS's cards and it might be a good move since these things are mostly plugged in a closed case environment. Those that want to show off their cards might want to wait for HIS's IceQ versions, which will probably come at the end of July, just as we wrote here.

The bundle for both cards is rather tightfisted, as it comes with DVI-HDMI and DVI-VGA adapters, S-video to Composite and S-video to HDTV cables, a Crossfire bridge and the usual driver disk and manual. The only different thing is that HIS has bundled its Multi-purpose screwdriver pen with LED light, spirit level (in case you need to build a brick wall on your desk I presume, sub.ed.) and, of course, a screwdriver.

Here are the pictures of these two cards.
