Nvidia? No, we are all fluffy bunnies here

After being blamed for all Nvidia's woes, the outfit's Taiwan-based graphics chip contract makers have put up a wall of silence.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE) and Siliconware Precision Industrial (SPIL) all provide services to Nvidia. Nvidia yesterday moaned that it would cost US$150-$200 million to fix the packaging material used with the Nvidia Geforce 8500M-series graphics chips made worse by the thermal design of some notebooks. It is fairly likely that one of the big
names used a dodgy solder bumping process.

When the tech press have chased the manufacturers, hacks have been told to go forth and multiply. Shareholders have been less forgiving and all of them have suffered drops in their shareprices. TSMC has rushed out a statement saying that is online to make its targets this quarter, despite the allegations.
