In HP Pavilions and Blackbirds

Yesterday we
wrote about an early listing of Gigabyte's 9800GT, here, but it seems that OEMs have taken a liking to this rebranded 8800GT, as well.

HP is selling three desktops with the unannounced card and they all seem to be available immediately. The 9800GT is featured in two Pavilion models, the Phenom 9850 powered HP Pavilion M9350F and the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 based HP Pavilion Elite M9360F. HP is also offering a dual SLI 9800GT setup on its HP Blackbird 002 BB5140rp. You can find the listings on newegg, here.

As we've already said, the 9800GT is nothing more than a rebranded 8800GT, a 65nm card featuring the same clocks as the original 8800GT. Nvidia apparently plans to sell it at €149 a pop, which doesn't seem like a very good deal, especially considering the 8800GT is available for under €100 and ATI's HD4850 sells for around €130.

However, thanks to the 9 series designation, OEMs will probably enjoy selling these cards, as uninformed consumers will often go for the higher number by default. Apart from HP, some other OEMs are also rumored to be preparing 9800GT powered desktops, but let's not name names until we can confirm these reports.
