Deutsche Telekom makes deal with Apple

The iPhone will
be available for sale in Germany soon, according to news leaked by Deutsche Telekom (DT) that it has hammered out a deal with Apple, Inc.  The iPod will reportedly retail at 399 Euros, or $554, and be offered through DT’s retail outlets within Germany.

T-Mobile will reportedly partner with DT’s mobile communications group, and the partners will share revenue from voice and data services with Apple.  The deal with Apple and DT is expected to be announced officially at a news conference sometime before the end of September.  It is not known what model the European iPhone will be.

It was expected by analysts that Vodafone would be the exclusive dealer across Europe to sell the iPhone, but that apparently is no longer the case.  Apple reportedly is set to allow iPhone sales in the UK through the O2 UK unit of Spanish Telefonica, and iPhone sales in France through France Telecom's Orange, according to analysts.
