Could be the replacement for the Curve

RIM seems to have a lot of products in development, and when you are successful but unsure what is going to be the next big thing for cell phones it is a good idea to have a lot of irons in the fire. The latest BlackBerry prototype that seems to offer something else a bit different is the Javlin.

From a distance, the Javlin looks a bit like the recently released BlackBerry Bold; however, it is a bit wider from what we have been able to tell, and perhaps a bit thinner than the Bold. It is sleek, but at the same time it has a bit more space between the keys on the keyboard, and the keys may be a fraction larger. The keyboard action is said to be excellent and it works well for larger hands.

The Javlin is said to offer a 480 x 360 display with Quad-band GSM/EDGE. It will include a 3.2 megapixel camera, which is major upgrade by RIM standards. It will feature both Wi-Fi and GPS which have become standards on the latest Blackberry devices. It will be powered by the ArgonV processor running BlackBerry OS 4.6 and will offer BES 5.0 support.

The Javlin is said to be slated for launch in mid-2009, and according to our sources this could be targeted as the BlackBerry Curve replacement; and RIM is expected to need something for Curve owners to upgrade to in this time frame.
