Nokia posts Q2 2008 earnings

Sales up 21% compared to last year

 

Today, Nokia posted the company’s Q2 2008 results. The report says that Nokia sold 122 million handsets, which is 21% more than the same period last year.

The company sold the most phones in the Asia-Pacific region – 36,4 million units. Europe is in third place, with 27,1 million phones; whereas the U.S. is the last with 4,5 million units.

From these numbers, 15,3 million units are smartphones from E business series, and 10 million are N multimedia series.

Nokia also announced a couple of phones they plan to unveil in the near future. They confirmed that they’ll launch at least one touch screen phone in 2H of this year. The devices planned for this year will be aimed at mass sales and not just high-end enthusiasts.
