Has 3in 480x800 display

Although the new LG Arena Smartphone was only unveiled officially yesterday, more details of this handset has already made its way online and it looks like this is set to be a seriously impressive device if these details are indeed correct.

First of all and possibly the most impressive feature of the Arena is its 3in 480x800 resolution display, which is the same resolution that the 7in Eee PC displays have, albeit on a much smaller display. This should allow for some very impressive video playback quality and with hardware MPEG4 (DivX/XviD) support, this could well become a popular portable video player.

LG has also added WiFi 802.11b/g support, Bluetooth 2.0, a 5Megapixel camera with auto focus, a forward facing camera for video call and an FM radio. No details with regards to the CPU or memory has managed to slip out as yet, but we'd expect these details to turn up in due time.

The handset measures 106x55x12mm which makes it somewhat smaller than the iPhone 3G, although the physical screen size is also smaller. The arena weighs in at 105g which is 28g lighter than the iPhone 3G. LG should have a good change to steal some market share with this handset, although we doubt it'll be from the iPhone.
