No official announcement and claims of being misquoted

It seems that AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega thinks that Dell will be entering the smart phone market arena, as well; or you can believe that he was misquoted during a panel discussion at the MWC 2009 conference.

According to reports, Dell has decided to enter the smart phone space, although Dell has yet to release an official announcement. While many of our sources are suggesting that Dell will make it official in the next couple of days, de la Vega claims that it is all rumors, that he was just misquoted and that he knows nothing beyond these rumors.

Our sources do seem convinced that Dell will launch a new smart phone that will be based on the new Windows Mobile 6.5 OS that is being quarterbacked inside Dell by former Motorola RAZR guru, Ron Garriques. We have wonder if de la Vega’s comments are true because AT&T will be offering this phone in the U.S. market space?
