Now that didn't take long

Nokia says
it has fixed a 3G connectivity issue which affected American 5800 MusicXpress users on AT&T. The news comes just two days after the company pulled the music phone from US shelves.

The Finnish handset maker says it will start shipping units with new firmware shortly, and it's asking owners of the first batch to call tech support or exchange their unit for a new one. It doesn't appear users will be able to upgrade the firmware themselves.

Taking on the iPhone on its home turf was never going to be easy, and pulling the phone from sale just a week after the US launch over what appears to have been a trivial issue just made matters worse. However, we are sure no harm was done, and the affordable 5800 will probably make quite an impact on the iPhone dominated market.
