Low cost touch-screen mobile

Although Philips is anything but a big player in the mobile phone business, the company is readying a new touch screen device called the Xenium X810 which could appeal to those looking for an affordable touch-screen handset.

The screen size isn't known at this moment in time, but it doesn't look like it'll be bigger than 2.8-inches. The resolution should be 400x240 pixels and can display 262,000 colours. Other features include a 3.2 Megapixel camera with flash, Bluetooth, 45MB of built in memory, a microSD card slot and USB PC connectivity.

The handset measures 104x52x14.4 mm (HxWxD) which is quite chubby compared to some competing devices, although at 100g it's not too heavy. The downside is that the X810 only offers quad band GSM with EDGE, but this should help keep the cost down. The X810 is also claimed to have up to a months standby which is very impressive, but we're curious how good the talk time will be after a couple of weeks.
