Nintendo pulled out
While there has been a lot of wishful talk to see Nintendo’s name on a gaming device that can also act as a mobile phone, it just hasn’t happened. Now however, we found out that Nintendo hasn’t quite been turning a blind eye to the idea.

Pocket gamer reports that Nintendo has been working with Nokia in the early 2000s on an R&D project, which unfortunately couldn’t make it past the company’s board of directors where it was rejected.

Instead, Nintendo opted to work on what will become the DS as the company allegedly thought it to be a much sounder product for the future. Nokia on the other hand seems to have liked the concept and proceeded by offering its N-Gage to the general public. Needless to say, we all know how that worked out.
