Rumour: iPhone 5S trial production to start soon

by on12 November 2012

December, very low volumes

Sick and tired of your brand new iPhone 5? Good news, Apple is reportedly planning to start trial production of the iPhone 5S in December.

At least that’s what a Chinese business paper is reporting, but we are far from convinced. Apple reportedly plans to produce 50,000 to 100,000 units in December, with volume production starting sometime in Q1 2013.

Apple is apparently facing production issues with the iPhone 5, so it decided to speed up certification for iPhone 5S components.

It sounds a bit too early, and a bit too farfetched. I like a good Apple rumour as much as the next guy, but I don’t believe in this one. So why report it then? Well, there’s always a chance, albeit a small one - let's not forget the recent iPad 4 update, which took the market by surprise.
